  • Architected, owned and acted as principal of company wide application logging service. Business case review estimated savings at 160k/yr within 1 year.
  • Architected, owned, and acted as principal of project to migrate company’s order system (BOS) to AWS, update SDLC practices, decouple environments, and address open security and operational issues (no HA, DR, code repository, rollback procedures, enforcement of TLS, etc).
  • Architected and owned project for customer facing service migration to AWS. This allowed a previously unsupported development team (BAC) to become self-sufficient.
  • Participated in a critical security remediation project to rebuild and migrate a business critical service (Update) to AWS in 3 weeks.
  • Worked directly with internal security team and external auditor to pass SOC 2 certification for customer facing product 2 years in a row. Worked to automate as much of the evidence collection as possible.
  • Improved on-call rotation, and MTTR, by re-tuning monitoring, alerting, and on-call scheduling. This dramatically reduced pager burnout.
Sr. Linux Systems Engineer

  • Developed operational tool to simulate transactions on behalf of customer to improve troubleshooting times. There are now 3 incidents that have been resolved in less than 15 minutes because of this tool.
  • Developed and documented operational tools to reduce hands-on time spent by support staff (e.g. an asset purchase simulator, a monitoring verification script/runbook, and a fabric based Ops run-command script).
  • Expanded Splunk data ingest and alerts/reports/dashboards to include engineering/development environments and also fill visibility and monitoring gaps. These allowed for better assessment of detailed service performance to drive decisions at all levels of the release cycle.
  • Deployed, configured, and maintained a 125+ server DR site. This allowed TiVo to have a working failover site for clients while also permitting the team to decommission a previously failed DR site.
  • Replaced an entire service composed of 4 high-traffic machines in 3 days w/o impacting critical services. This change cut off 11-days from the project timeline.

  • Worked closely with staff to understand and document business requirements for translation into functional, technical, and design specifications to support the development and multi-phase implementation of SAP Business Objects Ent. 4.0.
